You could see through the slats & they moved especially when cars rolled past! A lot of times I walked on the street after cars passed. We were Coming from Churchill and ending at Saint Phillips Hospital to get to Jackson Ward.
To see it again is AMAZING and I can see myself TERRIFIED & reluctant to walk across the Viaduct Bridge!
Big Sis & friend encouraging me to continue and have Victory over my fear of height!
At nine years old....
IT DID NOT WORK!!!(lol)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04979871923705475005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495295138304264877.post-67681957313378467432015-09-26T20:52:43.899-04:002015-09-26T20:52:43.899-04:00When I was a child my mother and I walked across t...When I was a child my mother and I walked across the viaduct from 23rd and Broad to downtown Richmond as a easier way to get to downtown Richmond. I'm so glad someone did take pictures of it. I would like to know where you found that postcard very such a good view of it.Barbara Hartmannnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495295138304264877.post-22762293263634521172015-09-11T18:55:20.950-04:002015-09-11T18:55:20.950-04:00I remember that bridge as a child. There were slats that you could look down through as you drove over it and it made a horrendous noise as you rolled from slat to slat.
Valerie Augustsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495295138304264877.post-74925382621467891672013-01-08T16:13:22.111-05:002013-01-08T16:13:22.111-05:00My name is Alton Nunn I worked the car 614 for 5 y...My name is Alton Nunn I worked the car 614 for 5 years I must have crossed that viaduct a 1000 times going to M.C.V, and St. Phillips Hosp to take reports . I looked on Google Maps sometime back and found, via satellite view, the ruins of an old building just barely north of Leigh Street viaduct. Any idea what this was?robsmithiiihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13449671238472303832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495295138304264877.post-66484669293775740932011-10-10T18:08:04.318-04:002011-10-10T18:08:04.318-04:00Interesting, I had no idea about the Marshall St. ...Interesting, I had no idea about the Marshall St. viaduct. Thank goodness it was replaced by the Leigh St. bridge. It makes biking from Church Hill to the business district a breeze! There's no way I'd do it everyday if I had to go up and down Broad Street.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
