Union-PSCE, the Presbyterian seminary complex on Richmond's North Side, wants to celebrate the women and history behind its Mission Court Buildings before razing the Spanish-revival structures that once housed returning missionaries.
The three now-vacant buildings along Rennie Avenue were constructed in 1921, 1927 and 1955, after women in the Presbyterian Church saw a need for housing and organized a fundraising effort. The three buildings, plus two other once-residential buildings near Rennie and Brook Road, are slated for demolition because they are in poor condition and no longer needed, seminary officials said.
