Can you name the block? What decade? What's left on this block?

Next door to the Hibbs. That's the dock entrance to the library on the left. Judging by the cars, early to mid-70s? Not sure when the library was built. I remember picking through the rubble of the old building (Scottish Rite temple?) on the far corner as a freshman in 78.

Dlunsford is correct. It is the 900 block of Park Ave. with the Scottish Rite Temple building seen at the end of that block, corner of Harrison and Park. This image dates from about 1977. Most of these houses (built in the 1890s) were demolished by 1980. That is the loading dock entrance to the library on the left - which is now gone and replaced with the new Cabell Library addition still being constructed today (May 2014). - Ray B.

Two other foggy memories that come to mind, while digging through the temple rubble I seem to remember several large pipe organ pipes. And when it snowed we would steal cafeteria trays from the Hibbs and slide down that ramp to the library dock. Amazing how we got our jollies back then (no cell phones, hand-helds, etc.). Man I miss those days!
